Program Description

Urban Canine takes established obedience beyond the traditional training environment and into the places you and your dog encounter in everyday life. Working alongside other dogs and handlers, you’ll learn how to maintain communication, neutrality, impulse control, and dependable obedience as the environment becomes increasingly challenging.

Through structured real-world exercises, you’ll practice controlled walking, navigating crowds and confined spaces, crossing streets, maintaining position around distractions, settling calmly in public, and responding reliably amid changing sights, sounds, movement, and activity.

Each class builds upon established obedience while teaching you how to guide your dog through increasingly complex environments. The goal is not simply a dog that knows the commands, but one that can dependably perform them when and where they matter most.

Program Requirements

  • Dogs must be 6 months of age or older.
  • Dogs must be manageable on leash in a group setting.
  • For the safety of all participants, this class is not appropriate for dogs with a history of biting people or dogs, or those displaying behaviors that cannot be safely managed in a group environment.
  • Female dogs cannot be in heat during the program.

If you're unsure whether this class is the right fit, we're happy to discuss your dog's needs and recommend the most appropriate training program.
